At Computex 2024, we caught a preview of several motherboards for both platforms from MSI and an extensive array from Gigabyte. However, ASRock stole the show with over a dozen new motherboards on display at the world’s premier computing trade fair. Watch the video above for a quick live overview of each new board, with more details provided below.

Exploring ASRock’s AMD X870 and X870E Series

ASRock showcased its latest AMD motherboards featuring the recently announced X870E and X870 chipsets. Both chipsets share similar features, including support for an M.2 PCIe 5.0 x4 slot for ultra-fast SSDs, surpassing most previous-generation chipsets. They also offer native support for USB4.

The standout in ASRock’s X870E lineup is the X870E Taichi. This motherboard boasts two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, a Wi-Fi 7 controller, and a unique design. It also features a robust power design with 27 power phases capable of handling up to 110 amps of current.

ASRock Teases Intel Arrow Lake

Intel has yet to officially announce the release date for its Arrow Lake desktop processors, the socket they will use, or their compatible chipsets. Typically, Intel introduces a new socket every two generations, and visual evidence from Computex suggests a new socket is on the way.

The motherboards on display had the socket area obscured, but the visible metal mounting bracket indicated “LGA 1851,” different from the current LGA-17XX socket used on LGA 1700 motherboards.

While details about the new chipset’s features remain sparse, ASRock’s display hinted at a range of prices and features. Among the highlights was the ASRock Taichi Aqua, a flagship model with built-in connections for custom water cooling to manage the board’s power-regulation circuitry.
