Nvidia RTX 4080 Series:
After many leaks and rumours, Nvidia announced the arrival of its RTX 40 Super GPUs at CES, with the RTX 4070 Super, 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super releasing at ludicrous prices in India.
The RTX 4070 Ti Super increases the VRAM buffer to 16GB, with Nvidia claiming it’s 1.6x faster than the RTX 3070 Ti, and that’s before taking DLSS 3’s frame generation into account. The RTX 4080 Super is a smaller upgrade, getting a bump in CUDA core count and memory speed. Featuring 10,240 shaders, the 4080 Super is billed to be “1.4X faster” than the RTX 3080 Ti.
The Super branding was revealed as a replacement for the “Ti” brand of GPUs midway through the Turing generation. After the RTX 2060 Super and 2070 Super, Nvidia pivoted to the legacy “Ti” branding for mid-generation upgrades for the Ampere (RTX 30) cards. Now, to make matters worse, Nvidia is combining both for refreshes to the higher-end RTX 40 series cards.
The Super refresh starts with the RTX 4070 Super, which has 20% more cores than the existing RTX 4070. With 7680 CUDA cores and 36MB of L2 cache, the 4070 Super is a 200W card meant for improved 1440p gaming. Nvidia claims that the 4070 Super will surpass the RTX 3090 in gaming performance, though we’ll have to wait for benchmarks on that one.
Nvidia also released some benchmark charts featuring popular games like Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, but given that the company is taking DLSS 3 frame generation (which is exclusive to RTX 40) into account, those should be taken with a grain of salt.
Nvidia RTX 40 Super India Prices
The RTX 40 Super series will priced in India as follows:
- RTX 4070 Super: Rs. 63,000 (releasing January 17)
- RTX 4070 Ti Super: Rs. 84,000 (releasing January 24)
- RTX 4080 Super: Rs. 1,05,000 (releasing January 31)
Of course, if you’re a PC gamer in India then you know these suggested prices will most likely not be followed by manufacturers. Regardless, expect Nvidia to start dropping more details about its next generation of GPUs, the RTX 50 series.
